Mysql replication failed fatal error 1236

Mysql replication failed: Got fatal error 1236 from master when reading data from binary log: ‘Client requested master to start replication from impossible position’

Received this message? Go fix it!

on the master mysql db enter:

show master status;
# write down the log_file and master_log_pos

access your slave db and enter:

slave stop;
# set the bin log entries to the next position you previous checked by entering command on master
CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_LOG_FILE='mysql-bin.000090', MASTER_LOG_POS=4;
slave start;

then check with:

show slave status;

and replication should be running again.
